

The History of Louisiana Music
This is a very interesting seminar featuring Bob Reed speaking on the roots of Cajun and Zydeco music as well as demonstrating the various instruments such as the Cajun fiddle, the 'T fer, accordion and the Zydeco washboard. The demonstration lasts app. one half-hour and concludes with an informal performance by Bob and other Cajun musicians demonstrating the various musical instruments. This is a very popular demonstration and is also repeated in a shorter version on the main CAJUNFEST stage during set changes.

The making of Cajun and Zydeco musical instruments:
This demonstration feature Louisiana craftsmen building and demonstrating the various musical instruments used in the Louisiana Cajun and Zydeco bands. Spectators will see and learn how the Cajun fiddles, accordions, 'T fers and washboards are built and used. Many of these items are offered for sale in the heritage tent. This demonstration is also given in a one half hour format on the main stage and culminates with the craftsman demonstrating their instruments by joining in with the band and demonstrating firsthand the fruits of their labor.
