the History and origins of Mardi Gras By far one of the most popular segments of the Louisiana Heritage area, this demonstration features artists demonstrating how to make the authentic "courier de Mardi Gras" masks, the second line Mardi Gras umbrellas and the making of the fabulous Mardi Gras costumes. Mardi Gras costumes from years past are on display. Photos of the Mardi Gras floats and how they are built are an interesting part of this demonstration. Handmade miniature Mardi Gras floats, masks, second line umbrellas, beads and other Mardi Gras related items are offered for sale in the Heritage Tent. Each evenings entertainment on the main CAJUNFEST stage culminates with an authentic Mardi Gras parade featuring members of the audience dressed in authentic Mardi Gras costumes and participating in the Mardi Gras parade.
